Receipt Research Project

StatusOPEN FOR SUPPORT
Research typeBehavioural receipt-readability and search-task study
Start dateOctober 2026
Expected completionDecember 2026

The Receipt Research Project (RRP) is an independent behavioural study examining how people find, read and understand information presented on receipts.
The research focuses on the practical usability of receipt information, including how quickly participants can locate key data, how accurately they interpret it, which elements they notice or overlook, and how receipt structure and presentation influence their understanding.
The study combines task-based interaction, timed information search, recall and recognition exercises, and selected user-response measures to build a clearer picture of how receipts function in real-world use.
The findings are intended to support evidence-based discussion around receipt design, fiscal documentation, consumer understanding and the wider role of receipts within modern tax-control and transaction environments.

Open for Support

The Receipt Research Project is currently open for professional and organisational support.

The main need is help in reaching a broader and more diverse group of participants so that the study can build a stronger evidence base across different user groups, markets and receipt environments.
Support may include sharing the research through professional networks, associations, organisations, industry communities or other relevant channels, as well as helping to connect the project with participants or stakeholders who may have an interest in receipt usability, fiscalisation, retail systems, consumer behaviour or digital tax control.
The project is being conducted independently. Support does not provide control over the research methodology, findings or conclusions.
